The heart of Christmas is
the realisation
that Jesus was born in a stable
because
there was no room in the inn!
The heart of Christmas is
the good news of the angels
singing
“peace on earth
to all people of goodwill”!
The heart of Christmas is
the generosity of the shepherds
running in haste
to give totally to the new born King
from the little that they had!
The heart of Christmas is
the courage of the wise men
to follow a star to find Him
and later to disregard
the evil desires of a tyrant!
The heart of Christmas is
to listen to children and their mothers
when they cry in pain and anguish
as swords pierced their lives and hearts
without mercy!
The heart of Christmas is
about a refugee family
fleeing into Egypt
in the middle of the night
and nowhere to go!
The heart of Christmas is
the ability of our hearts
to create space for others
compassionate, merciful, loving, reaching out
internalising the blessings of Christmas!
